Sirens sound for the Holiday Inn Select on Street Rd. We were called out for a smoke condition on the 3rd floor. DC 4 and AC 4 first on scene wE 4-1 right behind there were guests evacuating the hotel and an active alarm sounding. AC 4 and E 4-1 crew wBC 4 met up wmaintenance and searched the third floor and encountered a light smoke condition. With the hotel almost at full capacity C 4 strikes the Second alarm for more man power to help with the evacuation of the hotel guests. Companies dispatched were E4-1 L65 L1 R6 E65 SS84 L8 L2 E9 E8 E2 E88. After the restaurant and bar was cleared command allowed the guests to take shelter inside until the situation was deemed safe to return to their hotel rooms. After an extensive search of the entire hotel and with the help of the hotel staff and PECO the end result was that a lightening strike hit a PECO transformer which caused the third phase to fail causing multiple electrical devices to over work and burn up causing the smoke condition. The situation was turned over to the hotel maintenance manager and was requested to set up a fire watch.
